FedEx packages may be delayed due to winter weather

While FedEx is determined to get packages to their clients, they state that safety comes first

Much of the United States has experienced severe winter weather this week, and the snow, ice and cold temperatures are causing delays with mail and packages. FedEx has released a statement indicating that hazardous weather in their Memphis, Tennessee headquarters is causing issues with delivery.

While FedEx is determined to get packages to their clients, they state that safety comes first.

“FedEx Express experienced substantial disruptions at the Memphis and Indianapolis hubs last night due to freezing rain in the Memphis area and snow in the Indianapolis area,” FedEx is in a service statement on its website. “The storm has created potentially hazardous operating conditions and the safety of our team members remains our number one priority. Potential delays are possible for package deliveries across the U.S. with a delivery commitment of February 3, 2022. Contingency plans are in place and we are prepared to provide the best possible service as conditions allow. Operational impacts to other FedEx operating companies may vary due to local weather conditions.”

Areas of the Midwest got more than a foot of snow on Wednesday (Feb. 2), including a handful of Michigan cities. Freezing rain has also caused problems across the Midwest, due to the ice impacting tree limbs and power lines. Outside of the Midwest, the central U.S., South and Northeast also got hit with inclement weather this week.
